Finally complete and off to the pressing plant soon, a 4 song EP of remixes of Futurisk’s “Lonely Streets”. Futurisk was a pioneering electro-punk group that recorded and performed in the pre-midi era of the early ‘80’s. They had two vinyl releases that sold out, a legendary live show and some videos, but for a number of reasons by 1984 Futurisk was history. Before dissolving though, they re-recorded several of their cult tracks in a high end studio in Miami. The original reels were salvaged, baked and transferred last year, and select tracks from the transfers were released on the Player Piano LP (MW023). After hearing the incredible quality of the stems for each song, we decided to offer up one of our favorites, “Lonely Streets” to contemporary artists whom we admire, in hopes that they would be interested in remixing the track or even fully ‘reinterpreting’ it. As a result, we received 4 very beautiful and unique productions from Chris Carter, Complexxion, Prince Language, and Tom Furse (of the Horrors). More info and release date soon.
